Diamond Microdermabrasion

Diamond Microdermabrasion Method

Microdermabrasion can be done in a number of ways, but the diamond microdermabrasion is the more preferred method. The wand that is used during microdermabrasion, usually comes with a tip of various sizes and is set with a varied degree of coarseness for different skin types and resurfacing. The wand also has settings for varying depths of the skin surface that need to be peeled.

The wand tip is constructed of chips of real diamonds that work to polish the skin and remove its dead skin cells. The dead cells are then vacuumed into filter. Many professionals find that the diamond tips are much easier to control and won't irritate the sensitive skin found on the face and, these tips or ones that are crystal-free are much more unlikely to leave behind tiny particles that can get in the eyes, nose or the mouth.

The diamond crystal tips can either be the real thing or synthetically made, and they are four times harder than the corundum crystals that are mostly used. Also the more natural a mineral is, the less likely it is to cause reactions in the skin. One might wonder how something so abrasive could be beneficial to the skin, especially the face, but it is beneficial in that it takes layers of damaged skin off and allows for newer skin to regenerate.

The Microdermabrasion machine hasn't been found to be completely safe. The dead skin and any bacteria that has been removed can stay on the surface of the tip and could unknowingly infect other areas of skin that the tip is used on. Also, the downside of the microdermabrasion that is diamond tipped is found to not reach the natural occurring hills and valleys that are normally found on the skins surface, therefore making it less effective than the wands that use crystals.

Many swear by the diamond microdermabrasion, but in retrospect, most find that it is equal to other microdremabrasions and is probably just a matter of ones preference. Most any method of microdremabrasion including diamond microdermabrasion can cost anywhere from seventy five to two hundred dollars per treatment. One would think it more costly, but it runs just about the same as the other methods in that a fresh supply of crystals isn't used for every treatment, and this is why it can be offered at a similar price range.
